“Pinterest” is the lastest site to hit the “social media” scene. Pinterest members “pin” images from sites that they like and assign the image or “pin” to a specific board. For instance, if you have a site selling clothing, you may have images from your site pinned to boards having to do with fashion or style. There is no limit to the amount of pins or board categories that a member may have. Once the image is “pinned” it is shared not only with the member’s “friends” but also on the general Pinterest site for all to see. So.. you can see the importance of making your site “Pinterest Ready”.
Most sites will have atleast one image that is “pinnable”. The sites that don’t.. are almost always sites that are designed with all flash. Website Design “Do it yourself” sites such as Wix often result in an all flash site. The following is from the “Help Files” on Pinterest : “Currently you can’t use the Pin It bookmarklet when viewing Flash sites or Facebook.”
Today I wanted to pin an image from a dress company that I love.. I googled their website, clicked on my “Pin it” widget on my browser and got the message “There are no pinnable images on this site”. This can be frustrating for the person wanting to “pin” something from your site.. and it means you are missing out on tons of FREE publicity!
If you belong to Pinterest.. go to your website and see if you can “pin” an image. If you don’t belong to Pinterest, have a friend who does check your site..or contact us. We’ll be happy to test your site for free and let you know how you might make your site “Pinterest Ready”
